Alyssa has a BFA from Kendall College of Art & Design, where she earned a degree in Fashion Studies and won the Studio Excellence Award for her cohort. After working as a fashion stylist, occasional model, then as a sommelier and wine buyer, she earned her MFA in Creative Writing & Literature from the Bennington Writing Seminars in 2023. She writes fiction.
Her writing often focuses on gender (specifically the femininity in masculinity and the masculinity in femininity), complex relationships, sex, power dynamics, health and illness, and landscape as character.

Alyssa is currently working on her second novel (and taking a break from editing her first).
She writes a Substack called a body of work about the work of making art, and staying in a state of embodiment.
She grew up in Ann Arbor, MI and currently lives in the metro Detroit area (and is a big fan of UMich/Detroit sports teams).
